Ludlites Love Fire

Blender Gallery is proud to present its fifth annual photographic exhibition shot entirely on plastic cameras “THE WORLD THROUGH A PLASTIC LENS V5 – Ludlites Love Fire”, hot on the heels of the recent and highly successful DIANA WORLD TOUR.

The eight photographers represented in this show are collectively known as the LUDLITES: HELEANA GENAUS, TIM GIBBS, STEVEN GODBEE, TIM HIXSON, ANDREW HOYNE, ANIKA LUZEMANN, ROXY MAY & IAN TATTON.

In true luddite fashion, the Ludlites are plastic film camera enthusiasts who turn their backs on digital cameras and champion the power of lo-fi photography. They revel in minimal controls and questionable quality while regularly and rampantly exploiting these features.

Last year ‘water’ was the element that gave them inspiration, but in 2011 the group has turned up the heat, creating images that capture the power, light and beauty of ‘fire’. All parental warnings not to play with matches have been enthusiastically ignored!

Reveling in minimal controls and questionable quality – yet regularly and rampantly exploiting these features - they choose to shoot on Holga or Diana Cameras.

There is a unified agreement amongst members to achieve the best quality possible along with the highest photographic integrity, while artfully exploiting the imperfections of their equipment.
