‘LAYER’, a new exhibition by Paula Bray, is a photographic exploration of patterns, tones, shapes, lines and textures found in nature.
It is a study of native flora and its surrounding environment that is combined to produce large photographic pieces on canvas.
The images range from extreme close-ups of plants, moody, dark landscapes and elements of natural surrounds.
Bray’s technique works in such a way where images are combined and layered to explore the relationship between these elements to suggest a thought, explanation or a journey.
There is an emphasis on repetition and patterns in nature that are produced using this technique.
Influences range from wallpaper designs and fabrics and repetitive patterns used in design and construction based on natural elements.
